I got my introduction to Belize from “House Hunters International”. It looked so enchanting and beautiful that I started researching Belize online. To my surprise I found that it was an English-speaking country nestled in the middle of Central America. It is surrounded by Mexico to the north, Guatemala to the west and south. To the east is the beautiful Caribbean Sea and the Barrier Reef. Although it is a very small country, it offers a variety of activities to match a myriad of interests. It has everything from Mayan ruins, caving, horseback riding, zip-lining, the rain forest (with all its inhabitants), beautiful beaches and of course, fishing, snorkeling and diving on the reef. I was equally impressed by the diversity of culture in Belize. It is a country of many nationalities. I have found everything from the local Mayans, the Garifuna people, to the Amish, Mennonites, Europeans and Asians. With every visit I find additional culture groups each adding their uniqueness to the beauty of Belize. |
